IWC’s Portofino series has been highly respected since it was first launched in the mid-1980s. It is recognized as one of the brand’s most classic series and a model of formal watches. As mentioned before, the Portofino series has successfully presented itself as a classic watch as it continues to evolve.
Early last year, the IWC Portofino series launched a 39mm chronograph, marking the launch of the series’ upgrade plan. While upgrading the movement, the brand decided to add more functional options to this classic series. Therefore, the Portofino series has ushered in a new calendar trilogy, including a perpetual calendar, an analog calendar, and the full calendar moon phase we are introducing today. Although the contents displayed by the perpetual calendar and the full calendar are roughly the same and equally eye-catching, the full calendar does not automatically recognize leap years and large and small months, so there is no need to worry about being confused like the perpetual calendar. Moreover, the stainless steel version of the full calendar is relatively more attractive in terms of price, at least half cheaper than the stainless steel perpetual calendar in this series.
Most full calendar watches currently on the market tend to adopt a 3, 6, and 9 layout, striving to make the dial as similar as possible to a perpetual calendar to present a more noble feel. However, IWC has taken an unusual route in this design, with a newly developed full calendar module. This module is located at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock. One small dial displays the day of the week and moon phase, and the other displays the calendar and month. Not only does this layout not have any low-level feel, but it looks clean, symmetrical and refined, which further highlights the aristocratic atmosphere. The new full calendar module is composed of 69 parts. Each display content is driven by an independent gear and can be adjusted individually through the crown or the two correction buttons on the left side of the case to achieve independent adjustment.

In addition to the novel functional layout, this full calendar retains all the classic elements of the Portofino series. With a diameter of 41 mm, a fully polished case of 11.8 mm, and smooth curved lugs, it exudes a classic atmosphere. Available in stainless steel and 18K rose gold, with a white silver-plated dial. The hour markers on the K gold model are K gold, while the hour markers on the steel model are gold plated. Whether it is K gold or gold-plated, the adjusted slender baton hour markers complement the golden willow leaf-shaped hands, especially the Roman numerals formed by the combination of the two, showing a unique effect of being cut off by the small dial, adding to the overall look of the watch. Adds infinite sophistication.

Powering this watch is IWC’s 32150 movement, which belongs to the brand’s main series 32 series and is produced by the group’s movement manufacturer ValFleurier. The 32150 movement has excellent performance and a power reserve of 72 hours. It is also equipped with a silicon escapement wheel and escapement fork, which improves the accuracy and stability of the watch.

Compared with the application of 32 series movements in other watches, the 32150 movement assembled in the Portofino series is more special. The movement uses blue steel screws and a gold oscillating weight. The introduction of these two designs makes the appearance of the movement more eye-catching and further enhances its appearance. Currently, the models in the Portofino series that use this movement are in addition to this full calendar watch and the 37mm three-hand watch. We look forward to the future 40mm three-hand watch being equipped with this new model that has both good looks and strength. movement.

Generally speaking, the Portofino series is an important series that cannot be ignored among IWC brands. It is characterized by fashion, classicness, and practicality, and is suitable for modern urbanites who pursue simple luxury.
